TrustInSoft adds AI assistance to formal analysis setup

TrustInSoft has announced an October update to its Analyzer software that uses an AI coding agent to help engineers prepare formal analysis. Version 26.10 also extends the tool’s approach to modified condition and decision coverage, or MC/DC, for safety critical software work.
The division of responsibility is central to the release. The AI agent assists with preparing and configuring an analysis campaign. TrustInSoft Analyzer then carries out the formal verification within its defined scope and assumptions. The company is not claiming that an AI model itself proves the software correct.
Formal analysis can examine possible program behaviour without relying solely on a collection of individual test cases. TrustInSoft says its tool can identify targeted runtime errors and undefined behaviour in C, C++ and Rust code. Engineers still have to define the analysis correctly and understand precisely what the resulting assurance covers.
“The AI assists with the engineering work surrounding the analysis; TrustInSoft Analyzer performs the verification itself,” the company says. That distinction matters when teams need results they can review and trace, particularly in work subject to functional safety processes.
The MC/DC changes are intended to help teams identify gaps in condition and decision coverage. TrustInSoft says the analyser can reason over ranges of possible inputs and present the reachable combinations in a truth table view. When gaps remain, engineers can focus further analysis on the missing conditions. The release also promises reports and traceability aimed at certification work.
TrustInSoft has not supplied an independent measure of the time saved in setting up an analysis. The strength of any verification result still depends on the code examined, the assumptions supplied and the classes of behaviour included.
Analyzer 26.10 is scheduled for release on 30 October. Existing customers are expected to receive the update through the company portal.
