Toshiba starts shipments of dual-channel digital isolators

Four DCL32xx00 devices combine 25 Mbps operation with two channel-direction options in an SOIC8-N package.

Toshiba began volume shipments of four dual-channel digital isolators on 30 September, extending its DCL32xx00 series with devices rated for data rates up to 25 Mbps.

DCL320C00 and DCL320D00 have two forward channels; DCL321C00 and DCL321D00 have one forward and one reverse channel. C variants default low and D variants high.

The magnetic-coupling devices operate from 2.25 V to 5.5 V across −40°C to +125°C. Toshiba specifies 3,000 Vrms minimum isolation withstand for 60 seconds at 25°C.

Typical consumption is 0.2 mA per channel at 1 Mbps, calculated from the combined supply currents divided by two, with both supplies at 3.3 V, a 15 pF load and 25°C ambient temperature.

Maximum propagation delay is 52 ns with 3.3 V supplies, a 50 kHz input, 2 ns edges and a 15 pF load across the operating temperature range. Minimum common-mode transient immunity is 30 kV/µs at a 400 V common-mode voltage, 3.3 V supplies and 25°C.

All four use an SOIC8-N package measuring 4.9 × 6.0 × 1.75 mm. Applications listed by Toshiba include industrial I/O, programmable logic controllers, motor controls and inverters.
