Murata shrinks the space needed to probe a 15 GHz RF circuit

Murata has started mass production of a switched RF test connector measuring 1.0 × 1.0 × 0.55 mm, cutting the mounting area by approximately 40% compared with its previous SWJ series.
The new SWL series operates from DC to 15 GHz at a nominal impedance of 50 Ω. The previous SWJ series measures 1.4 × 1.2 × 0.65 mm, so the SWL has a lower profile as well as a smaller footprint.
Murata has also reduced the clearance needed for its dedicated automatic and manual test probes. On a crowded RF board, the probe has to reach the connector without fouling neighbouring components, so reducing that clearance frees space around the test point as well as beneath it. The probes are scheduled to enter mass production in December 2026.
The connector’s switch lets a test probe make a temporary connection into the RF signal path. Murata is targeting smartphones and wearables, where leaving room for production test access can constrain an already tight layout.
MM8330-2600RJ5 is supplied on reels of 5,000; MM8330-2600RK20 comes on reels of 20,000.
