Yokowo brings detachable battery contacts to electronica

Yokowo will show solderless battery connectors for hearing aids, earphones and smart glasses at electronica, together with spring contacts just 0.35 mm in diameter.
A replacement battery has to return to a defined position after replacement, with sufficient restraint and contact force to maintain the connection. There also has to be a route into the enclosure. In a hearing aid or earphone, the cell, acoustic components and PCB already compete for a very small volume, so service access becomes part of the packaging design.
Yokowo links the power connector to European requirements for removable batteries. The solderless terminal lets the cell be disconnected electrically during replacement; access through the finished enclosure is a separate part of the product design.
The company’s earlier work gives an indication of the service pattern such a connection can be designed for. A detachable battery terminal example published in December 2024 carried a 1–2 A rating and a durability specification of ten cycles. That earlier terminal was intended for occasional disconnection. A charging dock used every day faces a very different requirement for mating cycles.
The 0.35 mm spring contact is a separate exhibit. Yokowo attributes its diameter to precision processing technology. The show programme supplies the diameter, while the electrical and mechanical operating figures for that exhibit remain to be detailed.
Electronica runs from 10–13 November in Munich. Yokowo’s other planned exhibits include detachable connectors for liquid sensors and flexible RF waveguide connections.
