Mini-Circuits has released the PMA5-223+, a GaAs pHEMT distributed amplifier covering 10 MHz to 22 GHz. Typical gain is 15.5 dB and typical saturated output power is +33 dBm, approximately 2 W, from a 5 mm by 5 mm, 32 lead QFN package.[1][2]
Both ports are internally matched to 50 Ω, allowing the device to serve broadband instrumentation and signal chains spanning several bands. A bare die version is also offered for assemblies where package transitions and interconnect length affect performance towards the top of the frequency range.[1]
At 10 GHz, Mini-Circuits specifies +43 dBm OIP3 with +20 dBm output per tone. That test characterises linearity at a lower output level than the saturated power figure, while the product listing separately specifies output at 1 dB compression. The conditions distinguish the part’s linear operating region from the 2 W saturation headline.[1][2]
Mini-Circuits identifies satellite communications, radar, electronic warfare and wideband test equipment as applications for the amplifier. Its frequency coverage allows a single device to span several RF bands, with the packaged and bare die formats supporting different levels of module integration.[1]
