Infineon and Qualcomm Technologies have agreed a microcontroller-based subsystem for Snapdragon Ride and Ride Flex reference platforms, combining an AURIX microcontroller with OPTIREG power-management devices and dedicated safety and monitoring software. The subsystem will operate alongside the main computing platform to monitor system health, coordinate safety mechanisms and support predictable real-time control of safety-critical functions. [1]

Infineon’s software package pre-integrates microcontroller firmware with monitoring tailored to the Qualcomm platforms, with support for integration into Ethernet and CAN vehicle networks. This places the microcontroller and its power-management devices within the reference-platform design, alongside the software needed to supervise the main compute system. [1]

Ride Flex already accommodates cockpit and driver-assistance workloads on the same SoC, using hardware isolation and quality-of-service mechanisms to control interference between functions with different safety requirements. Qualcomm’s original architecture description includes operating systems running concurrently through hypervisor-isolated virtual machines, a real-time operating system with AUTOSAR support and a dedicated ASIL-D safety island. The external AURIX subsystem adds supervision alongside those existing facilities. [2]

Infineon also identifies BRIGHTLANE Automotive Ethernet and USB connectivity products, together with SEMPER NOR Flash qualified for Snapdragon Ride platforms. [1]
