Rohde & Schwarz adds two-channel DRFM pulse analysis to FSWX

The FSWX-KM700 option measures jammer input and output simultaneously, including pulse timing, modulation, frequency and channel-to-channel differences.

Rohde & Schwarz has added simultaneous multi-channel pulse analysis to its FSWX signal and spectrum analyser for testing digital radio-frequency memory systems and other pulsed RF equipment. The FSWX-KM700 option measures two input channels in parallel, allowing a test engineer to compare the signal received by a DRFM jammer with the signal it produces in response. DRFM systems capture a radar pulse, convert it into a digital representation and retransmit a modified version. Controlled changes to delay, phase, amplitude or frequency can make the returned signal appear to originate from a different range, speed or direction. Testing this behaviour requires the original and altered pulses to be measured against one another. Rohde & Schwarz said the new option extracts pulse parameters from both channels and calculates the differences between them. Available results include pulse-statistics tables, magnitude, phase and frequency against time, capture-versus-time displays and parameter trends. The analyser can also display channel-to-channel deltas. The company said the instrument can measure pulse timing, shape, modulation and repeatability without moving data between separate analysis platforms. Simultaneous acquisition also prevents timing differences between two independently triggered instruments from being mistaken for behaviour introduced by the device under test. The option extends the multi-channel architecture of the FSWX, which was introduced for applications requiring phase-coherent analysis of several RF inputs. Rohde & Schwarz is demonstrating the FSWX-KM700 at European Microwave Week at Excel London from 6 to 8 October 2026.
