Ezurio pairs footprint-compatible Bluetooth modules with an optional NPU

Ezurio has announced two footprint-compatible Bluetooth modules that allow designers to choose between a standard device and a variant with an integrated neural processing unit.
The BL54LM20A and BL54LM20B are built around Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF54LM20A and nRF54LM20B systems-on-chip. Both modules combine a 128 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 application processor, a 128 MHz RISC-V coprocessor, 2 MB of non-volatile memory and 512 KB of RAM. They support Bluetooth LE, 802.15.4 for Thread and Matter, NFC and USB.
A shared footprint does not remove every design check
Ezurio says the two variants use the same 11 × 8 × 1.8 mm footprint, RF design and module certification. The BL54LM20B adds Nordic’s Axon NPU for on-device machine-learning workloads, while the BL54LM20A is aimed at applications that need the additional memory and interfaces without the NPU.
That gives design teams a way to begin with the standard module and retain an upgrade route if local inference becomes useful later. It may also simplify the management of related products built around the two variants.
The claim should not be read as meaning that every change is free of engineering or regulatory work. A move between variants may affect firmware, power demand, thermal behaviour, test coverage and end-product approvals. Developers should confirm pin use, software support, antenna configuration and the certification scope that applies to their finished device.
Ezurio says the NPU can provide up to 15 times faster inference than CPU processing alone. That figure is workload-dependent and should be assessed using the intended model, memory footprint and power budget. Beta samples are planned for October rather than confirmed as generally available.
