ESCATEC has completed a 100 m² controlled production room at its Lutterworth manufacturing site, adding real-time temperature and humidity monitoring, ESD-safe flooring and controlled lighting for medical and other regulated manufacturing work.
The investment follows additional surface-mount assembly capability and ISO 13485:2016 certification at the site. That certification was announced in June, before completion of the new room.
“The completion of this control room marks another important step in our ongoing investment programme at EUK,” said chief executive Charles-Alexandre Albin.
Temperature and humidity records can help trace changes in material or handling behaviour back to the conditions present during assembly. Combined with process and product records, they provide evidence when investigating a deviation. ESD controls address the separate risk of damage to electronic assemblies during handling.
ESCATEC says the room is intended for programmes where contamination control, traceability and process consistency are important. Its announcement does not give an airborne-particle classification, operating setpoints or a newly qualified product list, so it does not establish a particular cleanroom grade.
The June certification covered the facility’s independently audited medical-device quality management system. Requirements for an individual device and its manufacturing process still have to be met within that system. ESCATEC has not disclosed customers, committed production volumes or the value of the room investment.
