US Army selects VIAVI transceivers for test-range modernisation

VIAVI’s T/Rx software-defined transceivers will support repeatable RF environments across an Army test-range modernisation programme.

The US Army’s Threat Systems Management Office has selected VIAVI’s T/Rx software-defined transceiver for a programme modernising military test ranges.

The equipment will support the generation and collection of RF signals in environments used to evaluate systems including drones, counter-drone equipment, long-range fires and interceptors.

T/Rx combines signal monitoring, recording, analysis and transmission within a rugged commercial platform. It can generate and collect signals simultaneously, allowing ranges to reproduce representative waveforms, frequency-agile emitters and scenarios containing multiple signals.

The selection forms part of the Army’s Test Range Private Industry Initiative. The programme gives companies access to five ranges, including organisations without an existing government contract.

VIAVI says the transceivers will help establish repeatable RF environments for evaluating how systems behave against representative threats and interference conditions. [Source 1]
