TDK’s new B3201*A5/B5/C5 safety capacitors cover 0.47–33 nF, with continuous ratings of 500 VAC or up to 1,500 VDC at temperatures through +110°C. The metallised polypropylene parts are intended for line-to-ground EMI suppression in applications including vehicle chargers and industrial power converters.
They can operate above that temperature, although the conditions change substantially. Between +110°C and +125°C, the voltage must be derated by 1.5% per degree Celsius and operation is limited to 1,000 hours. A design running continuously at the top of the temperature range therefore has a different operating envelope from one using the full voltage rating below +110°C.
Lead spacing is 15 or 22.5 mm. The smaller B32012 versions begin at 5 × 10.5 × 18 mm, while B32013 extends the capacitance range to 33 nF.
The series complies with AEC-Q200 Rev. E and carries the listed IEC/EN/UL, CSA and Chinese safety approvals. TDK also reports a 500-hour temperature-humidity-bias test at +85°C, 85% relative humidity and 500 VAC.
