Synaptics Coralboard edge AI board ships exclusively via DigiKey

DigiKey has become the exclusive distributor of the Coralboard, a development platform combining Coral NPU technology from Google Research with Synaptics Astra embedded processors, according to the companies. The board is manufactured by Grinn.

Coralboard integrates the Coral NPU to provide on-device AI acceleration intended for rapid prototyping, product evaluation and production-oriented edge AI development, DigiKey said. The companies describe the platform as targeting ultra-low-power, always-on applications using ambient sensing, with the NPU supporting on-device inference for battery-constrained form factors.

The board offers plug-and-play support for cameras, displays and audio peripherals, along with Ethernet-over-USB connectivity and optional support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, according to the release. DigiKey lists typical applications as smart cameras, industrial monitoring, predictive maintenance, voice-enabled devices and battery-powered edge AI systems.

The companies position Coralboard for embedded developers, AI and machine learning engineers, system architects, product teams and device manufacturers, with a stated development path running from evaluation and rapid prototyping through product integration to full production designs built on what DigiKey calls a common edge AI technology foundation.
