RECOM integrates a full bridge for compact isolated power supplies

RECOM has announced the RVP007, a transformer-driver IC containing four switching MOSFETs and the control needed for a full bridge. It operates from 4.5–24 V and targets small isolated supplies, including power for IGBT and SiC gate drivers.
Housed in a 5 × 6 mm ESOP8, the IC supports designs in the 1–20 W range according to RECOM. The transformer, rectification and surrounding circuit determine the achievable output, so that range describes potential converter designs rather than a fixed rating for a complete module.
Its switching frequency defaults to 250 kHz when the CLK pin is left open, or can be programmed from 75–750 kHz using a resistor. The datasheet also describes an enable input and support for LLC configurations, although it directs designers to technical support for further LLC information.
Inside the bridge are two N-channel and two P-channel MOSFETs. Complementary drive applies alternating voltage to the transformer primary, while controlled dead time prevents opposing switches conducting together. Symmetry between the drive paths helps avoid a DC bias accumulating in the core.
RECOM includes soft start, input overvoltage protection, current limiting and short-circuit and overtemperature protection with automatic recovery. The specified operating-temperature range is −40 °C to +125 °C.
The external transformer provides the insulation barrier and must be constructed for the required working voltage and isolation system. In a gate-driver supply, the output also has to remain suitable through load changes and switching transients. Integrating the primary bridge reduces the discrete circuitry while leaving those transformer and output requirements to the surrounding design.
RECOM lists industrial control, UPS and photovoltaic equipment among the applications. The announcement links a datasheet and an ordering route, although the series was still marked “Coming Soon” when checked. Stock and production lead times could not be confirmed.
