Vox Power adds 600W EIRE600 to open-frame AC-DC range

Vox Power has expanded its EIRE family of single-output AC/DC power supplies with the EIRE600, a 600W unit measuring 5 x 3 inches with a 1.1-inch profile.

The EIRE600 delivers its full 600W output with either forced-air or conduction cooling. Where fan-less operation is preferred, it can provide up to 450W using natural convection at 115VAC. For applications with short-duration higher power requirements, up to 750W is available for three seconds.

The three cooling modes are intended to suit different integration approaches: system airflow where it is already available, conduction cooling to transfer heat directly into the equipment chassis or a cooling plate, and natural convection for applications where acoustic noise, maintenance or ingress protection are important considerations. Vox Power states efficiency of up to 96%, which it says reduces the heat that needs to be managed within the end system.

Isolation and operating range

The EIRE600 is designed for both industrial and medical applications, providing 2 MOPP isolation, a BF-rated output and support for both Class I and Class II installations. The platform operates from a universal 85 to 264VAC input and is rated for operation at altitudes up to 5,000m and ambient temperatures up to +85°C with appropriate derating.

Four standard output voltages are available: 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V. A 5V/2A bias supply and 12V auxiliary fan output are provided, together with remote sense, AC_OK and inhibit functions for system control and monitoring. With the main output inhibited, Vox Power quotes standby power consumption of approximately 200mW.

The company says Class B conducted and radiated emissions performance is intended to simplify integration into medical, laboratory, diagnostic, industrial and other equipment requiring high power density in a compact package.

The EIRE600 is available through Vox Power and its global distribution and representative network.
