Littelfuse’s MCU final-buy notice makes order acceptance critical

The December order deadline sits alongside limited supply, non-cancellable commitments and delivery conditions that leave room for schedule changes.

Littelfuse’s Integrated Circuits Division will phase out its remaining active microcontroller families under discontinuation notice ZAC26-0074, dated 21 September 2026.

Final orders will be accepted until 21 December. Customers may request delivery schedules through 21 June 2027, although the notice allows actual deliveries to extend beyond that period.

The distinction is between submitting an order and receiving confirmation of supply. Littelfuse says availability is limited, full fulfilment cannot be guaranteed and each order requires formal acceptance through its acknowledgement process.

What the commitment covers

Accepted final-buy orders are non-cancellable, non-returnable and non-reschedulable by the customer. Littelfuse nevertheless reserves the right to defer or cancel quantities because of supply availability or operational constraints. Pricing also remains subject to confirmation when the order is accepted.

Those conditions make an acknowledged order materially different from an unconfirmed forecast or purchase request. The date alone does not establish the quantity that will arrive or the delivery schedule against which a production plan can be committed.

A final buy can bridge the period before a replacement design is qualified, but its quantity depends on more than the next production run. Remaining programme demand, service requirements and the ability to store the purchased devices all affect the commitment. Analog Devices’ published discussion of obsolescence mitigation identifies both the usefulness of buying original manufacturer stock and the difficulty of matching a lifetime purchase to future requirements.

For this notice, the first step is establishing the exact affected ordering codes. Littelfuse references a separate part-number attachment, which was not included in the publicly retrieved copy. Individual devices have therefore not been identified here; the attachment is needed to map the withdrawal to a specific BOM.
