Thailand reports $690 million of proposals for electronics and battery materials

Thailand’s Board of Investment has reported 35 applications for advanced materials projects worth 23.5 billion baht, approximately US$690 million, covering 2023 to the first half of 2026. Its 24 October statement points to investment further upstream than chip assembly: the fabrics inside PCB laminates, films that spread heat and ceramics used in sensing.
The projects include Fultech’s glass fabrics for PCBs, with grades intended for AI servers, and Jones Tech’s synthetic and natural graphite thermal films. Other proposals cover coated metal foils for batteries and neodymium magnets. CoorsTek’s activities include ceramics used in pressure sensors. These are different material markets with different qualification requirements, brought together by the BOI as evidence of a developing local supply base. The US$690 million total covers applications accumulated over several years, with projects at different stages of development.
