AIXTRON’s preliminary third-quarter order intake reached approximately €275 million, with the company attributing the increase to demand for laser manufacturing equipment serving AI data-centre communications.

Orders were up from €124 million in the corresponding quarter last year and €214.5 million in the second quarter of 2026. Quarterly revenue rose to about €184 million, against €119.6 million a year earlier.

The equipment maker reported preliminary operating profit of approximately €57 million, equivalent to a 31% margin. In the prior-year quarter, operating profit was €15.4 million and the margin was 13%. Gross profit for the latest quarter was approximately €87 million, or 48% of revenue.

The demand described in the statement concerns the optical communications side of AI infrastructure: the lasers used to move data, rather than the processors doing the calculations. AIXTRON supplies deposition equipment used in compound-semiconductor manufacturing, including systems for optoelectronic devices.

The company has left its full-year guidance unchanged. Its complete third-quarter results are due on 29 October; the figures released so far are preliminary.
