A power connector’s footprint is only part of the space it occupies. The cable exit and the route to the enclosure wall can determine where the connector, and sometimes the board itself, has to sit.
Harwin’s Kona range includes right-angle single-in-line connectors in two-, three- and four-contact configurations, with board-mount and cable-mount options. The family uses an 8.5 mm contact pitch, and Harwin specifies a current rating of 60 A per contact.
Individually shrouded contacts and polarised mating are part of the connector construction. Optional aluminium EMI shielding accessories extend the range beyond the unshielded connection.
For an embedded control unit or power module, the right-angle geometry offers an alternative to a cable leaving perpendicular to the PCB. That gives the mechanical design another routing option without moving to a different connector family.
Harwin identifies avionics, uncrewed systems and compact high-reliability power equipment among the intended applications.
