Rockwell adds CompactLogix 5390 controller with local PointMax I/O

Rockwell Automation is expanding its Integrated Architecture portfolio with the CompactLogix 5390 programmable controller, combining local PointMax I/O, integrated safety and updated security capabilities.
The controller is intended for machine-control applications requiring a compact installation while retaining integration with Rockwell’s wider control and software environment.
Local PointMax I/O provides the connection between the controller and machine signals. The platform also supports integrated safety functions within the control architecture.
Rockwell describes the controller’s security capabilities as aligned with IEC 62443-4-2, the standard covering technical security requirements for industrial automation and control-system components.
The CompactLogix 5390 is scheduled for availability in the fourth quarter of 2026. It extends the company’s compact controller range alongside its existing Logix control platforms. [Source 1]
