Mill-Max expands factory-wired spring contacts for custom assemblies

Factory-terminated spring contacts add 18 AWG and 24 AWG options for removable modules, charging interfaces and custom assemblies.
Pre-wired spring contacts and mating target pins from Mill-Max.

Mill-Max has expanded its range of pre-wired spring contacts and target pins, adding factory-terminated options for assemblies that need a compliant electrical connection without a solder joint at the point of use.

The range includes spring contacts with 18 AWG leads rated at up to 12A per pin and 24 AWG versions rated at up to 6.5A. Those current ratings correspond to a 30°C temperature rise in free air; they are not a rating for every enclosed or multi-contact assembly.

The 18 AWG contacts provide up to 2.29mm of stroke, while the smaller 24 AWG versions offer up to 1.4mm. Factory-fitted leads are 203mm long. Mill-Max specifies maximum contact resistance of 20mΩ and operating lives ranging from 100,000 to one million cycles, depending on the contact and operating conditions.

Options cover standard and higher spring forces in the 909 family, lower forces in the 908 family, and mating target pins in the 903 family. The additions extend the company's existing 819 pre-wired range. Terminating the wire at the factory allows the contact to be installed where access for subsequent soldering would be limited, including charging interfaces, removable modules and custom cable assemblies.
