The Department for Business and Trade has added a new notice of publication, dated 22 October 2026, to its consolidated list of designated standards for equipment used in explosive atmospheres, published on GOV.UK. The change was logged at 00:01 on 22 October 2026.
Designated standards provide a route to demonstrating conformity with the UK's product safety requirements for equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, covered by the Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016. Manufacturers building to a designated standard can rely on a presumption of conformity when applying UKCA marking, rather than demonstrating compliance by other means.
The GOV.UK update itself does not specify which individual standards have been added, withdrawn or amended by the new notice. It records only that the notice of publication for 22 October 2026 has been appended to the page. The consolidated list hosted on the same page remains the authoritative reference for which standards currently carry designated status for this equipment category.
